[tex-k] kpathsea -format='enc files'

Hi,
the command 

   kpsewhich -format=\'enc files\' cork.enc

returns

   /opt/tex/texlive/2008/texmf-dist/fonts/enc/dvips/base/cork.enc

in TeX Live 2008.  However, in TeX Live 2009 I only get the error
message:

   warning: kpsewhich: Ignoring unknown file type `'enc'.

I suppose that it wasn't changed deliberately.
