    (1) I got a broken symlink
        ps4pdf->../../texmf-dist/scripts/pst-pdf/ps4pdf

tlmgr install pst-pdf  should resolve it.

I'll fix up the dependencies one way or another.  Thanks.

    (2) I suppose the whole installed tree contains no absolute paths,
    and I can move it later to some other place with no harm. Correct?

That is the intent, yes.  You might check texmf/web2c/texmf.cnf to see
if any absolute paths crept in.  Didn't for me, but ...
