These are two issues. One has to do with dvips, the other with LaTeX.

My (and I think also Pierre's) concern has to do with dvips:
dvips embeds by default information into the PS file which I argued
is a tiny, but still a leak of privacy that can have unintended
effects (see my last mail).

To avoid this problem one has to modify dvips such that BY DEFAULT
it does not include the comment lines
   %%Title: foo.dvi
   %DVIPSCommandLine: dvips foo.dvi
and also does not include the file name in the line
   TeXDict begin 39158280 55380996 1000 600 600 (foo.dvi)

The current behaviour could be made optional if people want to have it.
One could also implement a \special that has the same effect as this
option, which would allow the user to set the title in the LaTeX file (similar
to what one can do with pdf files).

Realistically, I don't expect dvips to change: it's just a minor problem, and
nobody seems to have complained until now.
But there is a privacy problem, and it has to do with dvips.

Best regards (and thanks for maintaining dvips even though it has
privacy leaks ;-)
