[tex-k] (no subject)

I type in: bibtex test2 (my test file)

and I get the message:

This is BibTeX, Version 0.99c (Web2C 7.3.1)
The top-level auxiliary file: test2.aux
The style file: agu.bst
Sorry---you've exceeded BibTeX's buffer size 5000
(That was a fatal error)

and then it quits

How can I extend the buffer size or by any other way avoid this.
