I am using only the Latex default font.

Use px fonts or tx fonts. If you want to use pxfonts, put the command \usepackage{pxfonts}
before \begin{document} and use $\iotaup$.  Take a look at the file
symobls-a4.pdf available in CTAN for a complete list of mathematical 
other symbols.
