[Tugindia] can't get the matra's going with devnagri.sty

I just downloaded the devnagri.sty and Udn.fd and am trying to run in 
MikTex.

    % Sample LaTeX input file
    \documentclass{article}
    \usepackage[hindi]{devnagri}
    \begin{document}
    {\dn acchaa}
    \end{document}

    once compiled i have fully readble pdf file but the word is not a "a" + 
half
    "ch" + "chha" + "a ki matra" but is rather .."a" + "ch" + "ch" +"ha" + 
"a" +
    "a".
    The matra are just not appearing. I wonder why this might be so. Any 
help
    would be really appreciated.
