[Tugindia] Reference as footnote

Dear Members,

I want to get the reference [1] for a article as footnote
(e.g.)

[1] xyz et al ...... 


If I use \footnote{xyz et al}, I get superscript 1 
both the places. How can I get the Ref. No. in 
square brackets both the places without superscript.
