Still I am not successful. I had already done 'texhash'. As per
your advise, I again issued the command 'mktexlsr'. No use. Still
the 'LaTeX font working' is coming.

On going through the '.log' file I found a comment - 'No file
Udn.fd on input line 7'. So I have gone through some *.fd files
and in them the following type of commands are there -

\DeclareFontFamily{U}{fontfamily}{}
\DeclareFontShape{U}{fontfamily}{}{shape}{
 	<-> font name
 	}{}

So today I will write a small 'Udn.fd' file with corresponding
devanagari file names and try.

By the way I stumbled upon a set of devnag fonts - dvpn8.mf,
dvpn9.mf, dvpn10.mf. They are based on the Velthuise base but with
a Pen like writing - somewhat thinner and with a slant. How can I
use them??
