Dear members,

I organised a One-Day Workshop on LaTeX in my department
on 27-01-2003. I have already posted the users group with this
information. I now share my experience with the Group as per
the suggestion of CVR.

1. The registration fee was Rs. 250

2. I was the resource person and I was able assisted by
Dr. Ramakalyan Ayyagari of REC, Tiruchirappalli.

3. Participants were supplied with the copy (180 pages)
    of LaTeX Tutorials Primer (TUGIndia)

4. They were also given a CD contaning the following:
	    a. Installable version of LaTeX2e prepared by me
	    b. MikTeX distribution
	    c. GhostSript 7.05
	    d. GhostView 4.3
	    e. TeXnicCenter 6.01 (TeX Editor)
                f. Screen version of LaTeX Tutorials Primer and PSTRICKS
	    g. Print version of LaTeX Tutorials Primer and PSTRICKS
	    h. Gnuplot 3.7.1
  	    i. GNUPLOT_FAQ
	    j. PDFTEX-FAQ
	   k. LaTeXcad
	   l. WInzip 8.1
	   m.Acrobat Reader 5.0.5
	   n. Some other utilities

As you would have noticed all these pertain to Windows OS.
Five participants are using Linux. I suggested to them the
relevant links to download the files. Only _two_ participants
use MAC system. Unfortunately, I could not give them the
MAC version, as I do not know the link to MAC binaries.

Originally we expected only about 20 participants.
But the number turned up was 75:
4 from two typesetting companies in Chennai.
50 from Universities and Colleges in Tamil Nadu
& 21 from my own College (remember, they too paid the registration fee)

For those who turned up in the last minute,
we could give only the CD but not the book.

Usually in Workshops of this kind, participants will become uneasy
after 3 pm in their anxiety to return to their place. But in this particular
case, I (and not the participants) have to put a HALT at 5.15 pm,
considering the lady participants who have to travel back alone.

I take this oppourtunity to thank TUGIndia for giving me the permission
to copy the LaTeX Tutorials Primer.

With regards,
Dr. M. Kalidoss, M.Sc., M.Phil., Ph.D., F.A.S.I.,
