hello all

prior to using latex, i used word.

one of the things i miss in latex is predefined styles. i word, i could
define heading 1, etc etc etc and just select text and apply.

is there any way by which similar thing can be done in latex? for
instance, i define heading1 to mean normal sized text, centered and
boldfaced and underlined. next time i want these formatting options, i
just type
\begin{heading1}
MY HEADING ONE
\end{heading1}

or better still,
\heading1{MY HEADING ONE}
