Hi,

Try this:

\begin{widetext}
\begin{equation}

%Type in the equation

\end{equation}
\end{widetext}

I have not tried this, but it exists in the sample files of few journals.

Similar things can be done for tables and figures which I have tried and
succeeded. The commands are slightly different though.
