I had to get a basic business-class Windows laptop for just this kind
of problem.  The journal should provide you with one, unless you are
independent in which case you may as well get one yourself.  They don't
have to cost much, and if you plug in an external keyboard then a
laptop is almost tolerable to work with.  Windows Update is a major
pain, though.
