[texhax] download successful, installation not working

My guess is that instead of having /usr/local/texlive/2017
-- which is the top directory for a large tree -- in your
command path, you want the specific subdirectory of that,
probably a subdirectory of /usr/local/texlive/2017/bin if
not that directory itself -- that contains the executable
files for tex, latex, pdftex, pdflatex, etc.

Again, I repeat my disclaimer that I'm not a Mac user and am
just guessing.
