[texhax] modify \setnumber for double page numbering in ledmac?

In the ledmac package, for \article, I need a modification to allow two sets of 
page numbers.  

The simple fix is two counters running at once.  Is there a way to tweak 

\setcounter{page}{startnumbering} 

to add another counter?


Any reasonable format is fine, like 79(200) (at the bottom of the page).  The 
second set of page numbers can also appear elsewhere on the page (upper 
right).
