This isn't what you asked..., but I'm sure you agree with me that the  
typography in your figure is truly *awful*. Why don't you do it the  
LaTeX way? Strip the typography from your figure and use the wonderful  
overpic package. I'm attaching the pdfTeX file and the resulting PDF.
