http://ctan.org/fonts/greek/cbfonts has the Greek fonts as outlines.  A
decent modern TeX installation will have this already installed.
Whether Kubuntu gutsy bothered to include it, I cannot say.  It is part
of the original TeX Live.

You are right that Greek is not part of Latin Modern at present.
