I suppose that you looked into Robin's FAQ already.  As far as I
understand, it is unlikely that there is a solution.

The LaTeX manual (Lamport) says that both, \twocolunm and \onecolumn
start a new page.  I fear that these commands switch between two
output routines and the twocolumn output routine more or less treats
a column like page.  If this is true it's hard to achieve what you
want.
