Jan's answers on this were good. There are commercial implementations 
which come w/ varying levels of support though.

I'd suggest also looking at http://www.lyx.org which you (and your 
boss) may find more palatable. The QT version for Windows or Mac OS X 
is particularly nice. Then you could run word2tex, pull the LaTeX into 
LyX, fix it in a graphical / WYSIWYM environment and export nice LaTeX.
