[texdoc] svn texdoc not finding anything

Sorry to report that svn texdoc is not finding anything for me at the
moment.  (Not sure when it started.)  For example:

$ texdoc -l symbols
texdoc info: symbols aliased to symbols-a4
texdoc info: No exact match, trying full search mode.
Sorry, no documentation found for symbols-a4.
...

Of course the file is actually there:
/usr/local/texlive/2008/texmf-doc/doc/english/comprehensive/symbols-a4.pdf


I have the setup we talked about before:
/u/karl/bin/texdoc (first in my PATH of course) is a symlink to
/u/karl/tex/texdoc/code/cli/texdoc.tlu and texdoc -f reports:

texdoc version: 0.4+ svn r25
Configuration files are:
    absent	/u/karl/tex/tree/texdoc/texdoc-i386-linux.cnf
(*) active	/u/karl/tex/tree/texdoc/texdoc.cnf
    active	/u/karl/tex/tree/texdoc/texdoc-dist.cnf

(Where /u/karl/tex/tree is my TEXMFHOME.)
