Don't ask me why. It's true that some minor changes have been
introduced during the last night, but in my case the binary size
actually *decreased* during the last night after I added "strip -r
-u". (I didn't try to compile exactly the same sources twice though.)

before: 360392
after:  346984 (with STRIP="strip -r -u")

Can you please do some further tests with binaries from svn
(x86_64-darwinlegacy)?
