Yes, I posted a correction to my earlier message as soon as I realised
this.  But as a result, I do not understand the purpose of Khaled's code :

	\ifnum\XeTeXcountvariations\font>0\fi\bye

Regardless of whether or not the \ifnum succeeds, the action would seem
to be the same (\bye); as I have no .ttc fonts for which :

	\ifnum \XeTeXcountvariations \font > 0

yields <true>, I cannot actually test the hypothesis that the behaviour
is identical regardless of whether \XeTeXcountvariations \font returns
zero or greater than zero, but would I be correct in thinking that
although the code /should/ behave identically, in practice it does not
and therefore there is an actual bug in XeTeX ?
