If you find there's really a difference between particular
OTF and TTF fonts, and you can't configure fontconfig to
prefer OTF, I suggest you remove the relevant package
entirely and re-install just the files you want into a
personal texmf tree. If you prefer OTF, you just need the
.otf files and, optionally, the sty file.
