I contacted the Support of Avira about the problem.

Kind regards

Bernhard

For peace of mind I suggest checking that the files in tlpkg/tlperl/bin are
identical to "known good" versions (e.g., copy the files to non-Windows
machine and compare with a freshly downloaded versions there). You should
be able to

get them directly from CTAN:systems/texlive/tlnet/tlpkg/tlperl/bin/

See:
<http://www.avira.com/en/support-threats-description/tid/7815/tlang/en>:

"In the unlikely occurrence of a false positive we would kindly ask for your
help and send the file to our virus lab using the quarantine functionality
of AntiVirus."

Doing this would be a service to other TL users who might encounter the same
issue.

Dear friends,

in my windows 7 environnement I tried to install Texlive from Tug.org.
When starting install-tl-advanced, the terminal started but I got the
Virus message from Avira. Since reading the texlive mailing list for
quite some time, I cannot recall such a finding. Am I correct and what
shall I do?

I have Zonealarm and Avira Premium installed and only the latter shows
this Virus message.

Please advise!

Kind regards

Bernhard
