why do we bother to send discs to user group members?  after all, they
all have access to the internet, don't they? -- and all this freezing
(to send out discs) costs time and effort.

why does development of tex continue, when emtex was obviously good
enough?

(who uses rather few of the facilities of a modern tex distribution, but
works to support the development all the same.)
