Thanks for your advice. However, a friend has been using it
successfully for creating fonts (at least sufficient for the code
chart) many such old scripts he encoded in Unicode:
http://www-personal.umich.edu/~pandey/ so I figure I can do the same.
I guess "YMMV" is true here...
