[tex-live] Is it a bug of amsldoc.pdf?

nothing to do with tex live.  ams asked ctan to distribute a
non-standard amsmath bundle, and i started work on it, found problems,
but due to pressure of other work i forgot all about it.

the problem is that the amsmath bundle repeats stuff in the amscls
bundle, but without the relevant sources.  we don't like repeating
things in different packages.  repeating them inside a single (ctan)
bundle seems wanton.  i explained my concerns to my ams contact, who
said ths structure was due to a management edict.  i've not pursued the
dicussion.

i was told that there was no new technical material in the release; this
is of course not consistent with your finding that there are changes to
the documentation, but the update was certainly presented to me as
repackaging.

i'll spend some more time worrying about this issue, this evening after
i've eaten.
