I don't know what mtxrun does exactly, but in some situations, ** (as opposed to
a single *) in a pattern precisely means "descend in subdirectories" (or, said
otherwise, "match '/' too"). So, I'm not so sure mtxrun doesn't descend in
subdirectories.
