Since I couldn't update the texlive 2009
distribution in my laptop, I decided to have
a shot at my desktop. I still have jaunty jackalope,
ubuntu 9.04 on my desktop. I had no network problems
whatsoever.
 tlmgr behaved well
and everything looks perfect but for
puzzling error message at the end.

******************************************************
What can be the reason? I ran the command
sudo tlmgr update --self
before running the full update.
I tried to find the current version using
tlmgr --version.
The output is
***********************************
tlmgr --version
tlmgr revision 17811 (2010-04-12 06:05:03 +0200)
tlmgr using installation: /usr/local/texlive/2009
TeX Live (http://tug.org/texlive) version 2009
************************************************
Is the problem indicated by the error message
serious? I have checked my installation by running
pdflatex on a file. There was no problem.
Best,
S. Venkataraman.
