the trouble, for the original c.t.t. poster, would be learning a new
interface.

when i was working in computational linguistics, a member of the staff
of the place that employed me left, and *had to have* the paper tapes
she had used for running jobs, as well as ownership of the institute's
directory on the computing service's machine.  she wasn't stupid (far
from it[*]) but had an aversion to the nitty-gritty of computing.

there are in fact any number of tree packages, but not having worked in
the field for 40 years (gosh, is it that long?) i can't offer a useful
view on their equivalence or otherwise.

computational linguistics and information retrieval worlds to a memorial
seminar, all apparently sincerely praising her to the skies.
