Yup, that's what I would expect.  Mostly I was just commenting on
the idea that running Linux in a VM was an acceptable workaround
for problems with TeX Live (which I don't think is the official
position at all!).

Alas, that wouldn't work well on laptops, so I think I'll be stuck
with standalone installs for some time to come.  But for desktops
it might be an option, if and when I ever take the time to get the
Windows desktops integrated with *my* servers instead of our IT
department's machines.
