[tex-live] also had an odd update

After running tlmgr update --all this morning I got this in the end

[loads of these lines, my xterm could not scroll enough far back to see 
what comes before it]

also in my xterm (redhat as 4)  all of the above lines are printed on 
one line without line breaks (which looks a bit odd)

I'm not quite sure what is going on here, and the status is very 
'interesting' ;-)
