My assumptions:
1. You post message to wrong mailing list, may be comp.text.tex will
be more suitable
2. You not read documentation of geometry package, there were changes
made from 2 to 3 version.
3. (I don't have now access to TeX Live 2007 package database but) You
don't give information about geometry version in TeX Live 2007.
Version in TeX live 2009 is 4.2 dated by 2008/12/21, in TeX Live 2008
version is 3.2 dated by 2002/07/08.
