[tex-live] libtool stuff

Hi,

can anyone tell me (or tell me who could know) how the libtool script is
generated?  It contains a bashism in our latest builds (Debian uses dash
as /bin/sh since a couple of weeks ago).  

In the sources, there's a file libtool.m4, which explicitly checks
whether the shell understands var+=added_value syntax.  But although
dash doesn't, the code ends up in libtool.
