[tex-live] texdoc error

OK, I finally have a version of the TeX Lua
code that works : note (a)~all on one line;
(b)~escaped backslashes.

	os.execute('start "" "D:\\TeX\\Live\\2008\\texmf-dist\\doc\\latex\\minitoc\\minitoc.pdf"')

Does TeX Lua not take ".lua" as the default extension ?
I ask because I first tried

	TeXlua test

and this failed, so I tried

	TeXlua test.lua

and it worked ...
