    where? I don't see that in my Thunderbird (though I might have switched
    something off at some ppint way back).

I silenced mailman's default (and verbose and nearly useless) footer for
the tex-live list a long time ago, and don't plan to add it back.

For the record, you can get to the web page for any tug list via
lists.tug.org, e.g., http://lists.tug.org/tex-live.  That's the shortest
possible url. (And yes, it redirects to the mailman page, and no, that
isn't going to change, and no, I can't keep the url from changing.)

I fail to see that doing a web search for "tex-live archives" or
whatever is so hard that we need to be having this lengthy discussion.
The url is all over the web pages, too. I sincerely doubt that having
it in the message footer would reach anyone who couldn't find it already.

    Nothing in the headers either.

I don't expect people to look in the headers, but the standard mailman
headers are there, including:

List-Archive: <http://tug.org/pipermail/tex-live>

As well as:

List-Unsubscribe: <http://tug.org/mailman/listinfo/tex-live>,
	<mailto:tex-live-request at tug.org?subject=unsubscribe>
List-Post: <mailto:tex-live at tug.org>
List-Help: <mailto:tex-live-request at tug.org?subject=help>
List-Subscribe: <http://tug.org/mailman/listinfo/tex-live>,
	<mailto:tex-live-request at tug.org?subject=subscribe>

Best,
karl
