[tex-live] papersizes: in the document or as system-wide setting?

Any decent printer has a manual feed accepting many paper formats not
wider than letter.
Things go differently if you want to print on larger paper. In Canada
ledger printing (17" * 11") is widely available say in Business Depot
stores. But above this one should go to specialized places and price
skyrockets.
