    What do you mean with "system configuration"?  Is there a particular
    file you have in mind?  

No, all I meant was the kind of stuff you already messed with -- the
packages, dynamic vs. static libraries, etc.  I don't think you can
reasonably avoid it.

The only surprise is that Lars' system does not have libXau.so.  I
surmise he is using a different distro than Gentoo that sets up the X11
libs differently.  Dynamic libs are the bane of anyone trying to
distribute binaries, as we do.
