[tex-live] Problem with texlive 2007 on sparc-solaris

When I run latex on a simple file it takes a very long time to complete.
I ran truss on it to see what it is doing and it tries to open every
single file in my home directory. The texlive 2005 distribution did not
exhibit this behavior.

I am running this on a current solaris 10 installation.
