[tex-live] Repeat: mktexpk problem, works with TL2003 not with TL2004

I am still having a mktex.cnf problem. I have installed te TL2004
binaries, a teTeX 2.95.6 texmf tree, some additions by myself and some
stuff in my HOME directory. There also live wierda.mf (a symbol font I
use with two glyphs of my own making) and wierda.tfm (created a while
ago).

Now, when I try to compile a document with a TL2003 based setting,
there is no problem whatsoever. But with TL2004 there is. First, let's
look at finding mktex.cnf

> $ kpsewhich --format='web2c files' mktex.cnf
> /usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf.local/web2c/mktex.cnf
> $ cat `!!`
> cat `kpsewhich --format='web2c files' mktex.cnf`
> : ${MT_FEATURES=varfonts}
> : ${MODE=ljfour}
> : ${BDPI=600}
> : ${DPI=600}
> # uncomment the following line to use ps2pk instead of gsftopk:
> # : ${ps_to_pk=ps2pk}

So, mktex.cnf is available an can be found. It als has settings for DPI
and BDPI. But what happens when I compile?

So, my question is. How come this breaks between TL2003 and TL2004?
