These fonts are neither used nor needed. .fd files in LaTeX create
dependencies to tfm files, nothing more.

For embedding type1 fonts as done by drivers / pdftex, the map files in
TeX Live and teTeX are set up to use scaling to fill the gaps.

It was Taco (not Basil) who told me that this gives a more uniform
appearance for complete documents than mixing bsr/ams/y&y fonts with
Bakoma (which have completely different control points etc.).
