[tex-live] Problems installing texlive2004 on Solaris 2.8

Does regular tex or pdftex or anything work?
(It did for me on sparc, at one point.)

In any case, all I can think of here is a compiler bug.  The linux
binaries work for me, so I kind of doubt it's in the sources, although
anything's possible.

Maksym, can you reproduce the problem?  Would you be able to recompile
the sparc binaries without optimization?
