Hi,

yes I meant the -gsalpha or +gsalpha option for xdvi and the 'v'
keystroke for xdvi (to toggle PS display), or 'V' to turn
anti-aliasing on or off. The latter will actually restart the gs
process, so it should be a workaround for this issue.

Please compare the ghostscript versions on Linux (where it's broken)
with those on Solaris (where it works). Last time I looked there was
performance optimization in newer ghostscript versions that didn't
recompute the anti-aliased images when the zoom factor changed, but I
couldn't find out how to work around this in xdvi. I'm a bit surprised
that it also happens with anti-aliasing off; could you please
double-check this? (Use the +gsalpha option to turn if off, or check
that the menu option is switched off).
