Hi Karl,

and utils/dialog is the only one that needs libs/ncurses (an equally ancient
version with a horrible build system).  You once mentioned, that maybe we
should use the installed ncurses library as does texinfo. I certainly would
love to scratch libs/ncurses.

The upstream dialog (e.g., 1.1-20080819) has a reasonably modern build
system.  Since people not building dialog (--without-dialog) or skipping
dialog during TL install, will in any case use that version, I don't expect
any significant problems.

An other library I would certainly like to get rid of is libs/libttf
(freetype1), only used by texk/ttf2pk.  Last year I tried to convert ttf2pk
to freetype2, however, with little success.
