attached the answer from the publisher and by the way
merry christmas to all of you

greetings from Berlin, where we have it snowing in
an endless loop without an exit command ... :-)

Herbert,

Thanks for your note.

No, it's not. "Tables" was slower than we'd hoped.
We did inform Nielsen (who feed bibliographic data to
the book trade) that we'd postponed the publication
date to Jan-2011. This would normally cause an online
store like Amazon to show the book as "available for
advance order" rather than "unavailable", which is what
we want because then we avoid the problems like Jon has had.

When we open again after New Year we'll check the USA
status and make sure it's updated if there's any problem.

We've had a lot of snow here (only 5-10cm in Cambridge, but much deeper
elsewhere) and much lower temperatures (-20 C in some parts)
so everything is very difficult. Presumably Berlin is much colder
as you are so much further east? I suspect that Berliners
are so used to the cold weather that
everything runs normally. Certainly that's the way it was when
we lived in Heidelberg -- snow for about 4 months every year,
but everyone knew how to deal with it.
