Thank you, after 'fmtutil-sys --all' I could also do 'latex xcolor.ins'.
But if I try 'latex bsp00.tex' (bsp00.tex from your book) I get:

(/usr/share/texmf/tex/latex/tools/longtable.sty) (./bsp00.aux)
! Package xcolor Error: Undefined color `GreenYellow'.
See the xcolor package documentation for explanation.

and with bsp23.tex

! Package xcolor Error: Undefined color `[cmyk]{0.2,0.6,1,0}'.
See the xcolor package documentation for explanation.
Type H <return> for immediate help.
 ...
l.850 ...Color={[cmyk]{0.2,0.6,1,0}},increment=10}

I find similar effects with bsp303.tex, bsp314.tex.

	Regards Juergen
