[metapost] Recent bug report

Dear MetaPosters:

In case it helps anyone. The recent bug reported by
Giuseppe Bilotta (in which an "if" seems to be inexplicably
gobbled) occurs in all of the following versions of metapost:
   1.002 (the earliest one I have kept)
   1.005 (version in TeXLive2008)
   1.080 (first mplib verion)
   1.091 (latest version I have).
