I wouldn't have to do it now. Why would I want to increase my work?
(Then we get into the question: what is a color? :-)

Anyway, I have no problem with Jacko's proposal except that it
slightly increases the number of variables that might have to
be checked.

Speaking of which, does anyone know what a PS interpreter is supposed to
do if an rgb color has out-of-range components? (I'm wondering how
important it would be for a macro package to know the value of the
proposed truecolors and program around it.)
