Dvips understands "-o output_file_name" so you could send its output  
directly to Distiller's watch folder...


The problem you see could be caused by the fact that Distiller is not  
programmed to act like a command line utility. You could check its  
behaviour or capabilities by invoking on the command line:

	/Applications/Adobe\ Acrobat\ 9\ Pro/Acrobat\ Distiller.app/Contents/ 
MacOS/Acrobat\ Distiller --help
