Maybe it helps to use a *real* PostScript font that can be scaled to
any size, like Times...
The problem you see obviously comes from a Computer Modern font
definition (FD) file which filters font sizes and selects the most
appropriate of the few discrete CM font sizes. For large sizes cminch
was designed...
