I have an iMac with i7 processor arriving tomorrow, so I thought it would be a good idea to record typesetting time with my 3 1/2 year old MacPro running two 2.66 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeons.

I do not know how to time typesetting in TeXshop, so I LaTex in the terminal my lattice book of 479 pages with hundreds of illustrations.

Here is the timing:

LaTeX GLT3.tex

in the Terminal gives:

real	0m2.527s
user	0m2.446s
sys	0m0.077s

Awesome. You think it will be faster with the new computer?

Does anyone know how to time TeXShop?
